Travel Photography for Lonely Planet Traveler Magazine
3 October 2011
It takes a long time to get to the Falkland Islands. I flew from London to Madrid and then on to Santiago in Chile. After spending a day in Santiago shooting a small story, I boarded another plane with the travel writer as we headed down to Tierra del Fuego which was the last staging post before we headed onto the Falkland Islands. Though known primarily for the war between the UK and Argentina in the eighties, what's less known is how fascinating the Islands are as a weird outpost of the UK. I photographed the landscape, towns and people of the Islands over a period of 10 days. Seeing the image of Penguins marching on a beach published as a double page spread was wonderful.
